Founded in Brisbane in 2005, Habitat Development Group was ranked the 16th largest builder of apartments in the country in 2015 by the HIA (Housing Industry Association). The company specializes in residential development and has a reputation for delivering luxury properties at affordable prices.
With a focus on Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, Habitat uses strict criteria when determining site selection and only develops properties in growth suburbs, with good proximity to shopping, schools, transport, entertainment and employment.
Habitat manages all aspects of the development process in-house including site acquisition, development, construction, sales and ongoing property management. With separate divisions dedicated to each part of the development cycle, we are able to offer the very best value and service to our customers and our commitment to a project goes well beyond completion of the building. We also employ a dedicated team of professionals to ensure high quality landscaping, pools & commons areas are maintained after completion, whilst keeping costs to a minimum for investors & residents alike.
Habitat's conservative model and low gearing enable us commence projects using our own balance sheet. And we've completed every project we've ever started, so buyers can be rest assured projects will be completed on time as promised. Habitat Construction Group Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Habitat Development Group Pty Ltd and is responsible for constructing all of Habitats' projects in-house. The construction division is overseen by professional and experienced managers with over 50 years combined experience.
The construction division is focused on delivering a high level of finish and workmanship and has a track record of exceeding expectations in terms of quality and program completion dates. The day to day management of the construction division is handled by Mark Aldridge.
Habitat Development Group Pty Ltd retains the management rights in all its developments through its Habitat Property Management division, so buyers can be rest assured that Habitat's interests are aligned with those of any investor or resident for the long term.
Habitat Property Management employs a dedicated team in-house to ensure properties are managed professionally from Day 1 with property managers who live, work and breathe onsite. They are committed to ensuring the highest standard is maintained with respect to gardens, pools, common areas & security. And if you're an investor, their aim is to ensure vacancies and arrears are kept to a minimum. For the past 5 years, vacancies have averaged between 0-1% in all Habitat managed complexes and Habitat is managing over $220m worth of residential property for clients. The property management division is overseen by Ashley Halsey.
The Directors have confidence that Habitat properties will provide above average capital growth and accordingly, in 2006, established a privately owned vehicle for the Directors of Habitat to co-invest alongside their buyers and investors and retain properties for the long-term. These properties as well as a portfolio of retail and rural properties are managed internally by Habitat's senior management.
Senior Management Team
Cleighton Clark – Managing Director
Cleighton founded Habitat Development Group Pty Ltd in 2005 to focus on high quality, affordable residential development. In 2009, he co-founded Habitat Construction Group and Habitat Development Group's property management division. Prior to establishing Habitat, Cleighton completed E-commerce at the University of Queensland and he has been working in the property industry since 1998. Cleighton is responsible for the overall strategy of the group, including overseeing finance and acquisitions.
Steele Clark – Director
Steele Clark joined the group as a Development Manager in 2006 having worked abroad for two years in construction. Prior to leaving Australia, he was in carpentry for 4 years. Steele became a Director of Habitat Development Group in 2007 and co-founded Habitat Construction Group Ptd Ltd. Steele is responsible for all Habitat's projects from a sales and marketing perspective including liaising with real estate agents, project marketers, referrers and Habitat's own database of clients and investors. Steele is a fully licensed Real Estate Agent.
Mark Aldridge – Director
Mark joined Habitat Development Group in May 2007. His construction experience was gained working as a Builder's Contract Administrator, a Client Side Senior Project Manager, and as a Senior Quantity Surveyor; on residential, commercial and industrial projects. Mark's tertiary qualifications are Bachelor of Construction Management (Hons) and Bachelor of Business, and industry qualifications as a qualified Quantity Surveyor (AAIQS) and Chartered Building Professional (MCIOB). Mark has over 18 years experience in the Building Industry and co-founded Habitat Construction Group Pty Ltd with Cleighton and Steele Clark. Mark is a Fully Licensed Builder and is responsible for Design Management from a construction and operational perspective.
Cade Elliott - Project Manager
Cade joined Habitat in 2015 to oversee the construction group's continued expansion. Cade has over 14 years’ experience in the construction industry from both a practical and theoretical point of view. He completed his carpentry apprenticeship in 2002 and then completed a Bachelor of Construction Management and Bachelor of Business. He has experience in Estimation, Contracts Administration and Project Management on residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, health and education projects. He oversees Habitat projects from commencement to completion with a particular focus on establishing and maintaining budgets and programs.
Carmen Woollard - Financial Controller
Carmen joined Habitat in 2015. Carmen holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years experience in corporate accounting with one of Australia's largest contractors. Carmen oversees the financial and accounting functions for the Group.
Ashley Halsey - General Manager
Ashley joined Habitat in 2013 with 8 years experience in Property Management and now heads up Habitat's Property Management Arm. Ashley is responsible for all Habitat's projects from a property management perspective including helping clients maximise their returns whilst ensuring a hassle and worry free investment. Ashley also oversees and manages Habitat's own property portfolio. Ashley is a licensed real estate agent.
Lisa Crooke - Office Manager
Lisa joined Habitat in 2013 and brings extensive experience in accounting from her previous roles. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland and manages the office and accounting function within Habitat.
